Yishun Community Welcomes the New Year: SIG and Minister of Home Affairs Spread Warmth
Jul 02, 2024
On December 30, 2023, SIG, along with Singapore’s Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, and the Yishun Central District 3 Residents’ Committee, organized a heartwarming New Year event for the residents of the Yishun community.
SIG, a well-established enterprise in Singapore, is also an integral part of the community. At the end of 2023, SIG donated funds to purchase food and essential items for the community residents and joined them in welcoming the New Year. SIG is dedicated to celebrating the joy of the New Year with the community, offering sincere care and blessings.
Warm Moments with the Community Family
In the evening, SIG employees, along with enthusiastic volunteers from the Residents’ Committee, visited the elderly community and served delicious chicken rice to the seniors. This moment was not just about sharing food but also about creating warm memories with the residents, making everyone feel like part of a big family. “We hope that through these small acts, we can bring some joy and warmth to the elderly in the community, making their new year happier.”
Government and Business Integrate into the Community
As night fell, the Residents’ Committee invited some local low-income families to join them for dinner. In this warm and inviting atmosphere, residents gathered and enjoyed a wonderful time together.
Minister Faishal was present at this touching event, warmly greeting the residents and making the dinner even more heartwarming. He then engaged in discussions with Residents’ Committee Chairperson Jennifer Yam, and SIG’s Directors Sheena and Kevin. These interactions not only provided insights into the community’s situation but also brought SIG closer to the community.
Practical Gifts for a Warm and Happy New Year
Later in the evening, SIG and Minister Faishal presented New Year gifts to 25 families. These gifts represent SIG’s genuine care and support for these families, aiming to make their new year more comfortable. Sheena and Kevin, together with Minister Faishal, visited several families, gaining a deeper understanding of their living conditions and needs.
During the gift distribution and home visits, Sheena noticed that many families still require societal assistance. Therefore, she stated that SIG would actively engage in more charitable activities to give back to the Singapore society that has supported her and SIG over the years. This is not only a concrete practice of corporate social responsibility but also a sincere return to society, contributing to building a warmer and more fulfilling community.
Commitment to Future Warmth and Responsibility
SIG was honored to receive a certificate from Minister Faishal, recognizing our contributions to the Yishun community. This honor is a testament to our corporate social responsibility. As Minister Faishal said, “We should be grateful for all that we have.” SIG is grateful for the support it has received from all sectors of Singapore over the years. In the new year, SIG promises to continue upholding the values of care and responsibility, working closely with the community, and creating a bright future together with the residents.
