On September 10, the 2025 Sichuan–South & Southeast Asia Business Development Cooperation Conference was grandly held in Chengdu. Lin Shucheng, Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC; Chatulanga Abesinghe, Deputy Minister of Industries and Enterprise Development of Sri Lanka; Chandi Dhakal, Acting President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the China-ASEAN Center, attended the conference and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was hosted by Huang Li, President of the Sichuan Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

The conference, themed “Advancing Together for Shared Prosperity: Building a New Pattern of Industrial and Supply Chain Collaboration,” brought together more than 300 participants. Attendees included government agencies, embassies and consulates in China, business associations, trade and investment promotion institutions from 14 South and Southeast Asian countries and regions, as well as relevant provincial departments, municipal CCPIT offices across Sichuan, and representatives of Chinese and foreign enterprises.

At this high-level international economic and trade event, SIG Global was invited to deliver speeches and share insights at two different sub-forums. Covering topics from regional cooperation and investment strategies to compliance governance, the company contributed forward-looking perspectives and practical experience. This not only highlighted its professional strength in the dual dimensions of strategic planning and compliance assurance, but also provided actionable references and solutions to foster pragmatic cooperation between Sichuan enterprises and those in South and Southeast Asia.

Nadia, Minister-Counsellor of the Economic Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China; Nargis, Chief Executive of the Bangladesh-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh; Wen Kangjun, Deputy Director of the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee; together with Zhang Xueyou, Director of Business Development and Corporate Advisory for SIG Global’s Southwest Region, and several other distinguished guests, took the stage to share forward-looking insights on regional industrial layout and cooperation opportunities.

At the conference, Zhang Xueyou, Director of Business Development and Corporate Advisory for SIG Global’s Southwest Region, delivered a keynote speech titled “Strategic Opportunities in the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone and Investment Strategy Recommendations for Chinese Enterprises.” Drawing on practical case studies, he analyzed how this cooperation zone, with its cross-border hub position and complementary resource advantages, can serve as a vital springboard for Chinese enterprises to “go global.”

In his remarks, Zhang Xueyou emphasized that overseas expansion should not rely solely on short-term opportunities, but instead be guided by a long-term strategic vision. He highlighted the importance of building soft power, shifting from opportunity-driven to strategy-driven approaches, while maintaining flexibility and adaptability, and proactively seeking collaboration opportunities with enterprises in Malaysia, Singapore, and across the broader region.

Meanwhile, at the concurrent “Sichuan–South & Southeast Asia Commercial Law Dialogue,” Wang Xing, Consulting Director of East China for SIG Global, also joined a roundtable forum. The discussion centered on “Dual-Track Dialogue on Sichuan–South & Southeast Asia Investment Compliance: Inbound FDI into Sichuan and New Pathways for Sichuan Enterprises Going Global.”

Drawing on extensive practical experience, Wang Xing provided an in-depth analysis of the pain points in cross-border investment compliance. He noted that Sichuan enterprises going global often face multiple challenges, such as overseas entity setup, tax planning, and labor regulations, while South and Southeast Asian companies entering Sichuan likewise need to navigate legal and institutional differences.

Wang Xing emphasized that establishing a two-way compliance framework has become an inevitable trend: on the one hand, enterprises must strengthen their own compliance governance capabilities to ensure transparency and traceability in processes; on the other, they should leverage the expertise of local and international professional institutions to conduct early cross-border risk assessments and prepare compliance contingency plans.

This dual presence not only highlighted SIG Global’s professional strength in international trade cooperation and cross-border compliance, but also, through forward-looking insights and practical recommendations, provided valuable guidance for Sichuan enterprises “going global” and for South and Southeast Asian enterprises “coming into Sichuan.”

Looking ahead, SIG Global will continue to leverage its international vision and local expertise to help more enterprises seize opportunities, pursue steady and sustainable growth, and achieve win–win development within the new landscape of openness and cooperation.
