Connecting Businesses with Local Incentives and Grants

SIG helped an overseas-based enterprise explore Singapore as a strategic hub for regional expansion and connected the client with relevant government incentives and grant opportunities. The objective was to identify programmes that could support the client’s investment, business development, technology adoption and regional growth plans.

Beyond introducing available schemes, SIG acted as a bridge between the client’s commercial objectives and Singapore’s incentive framework, helping management understand the requirements, expectations and potential benefits of establishing meaningful business activities in Singapore.

The Challenge

The client faced several challenges in translating its overseas-based business model into a Singapore expansion plan that could meet local incentive and grant requirements. Key considerations included demonstrating genuine economic activities in Singapore, establishing a credible investment and hiring plan, meeting local eligibility criteria, and providing sufficient supporting documentation.

In addition, the client needed to clearly demonstrate how the proposed Singapore operations would contribute to Singapore’s economy and support regional business development. Aligning the client’s commercial expectations with government assessment criteria was therefore a critical challenge.

Our Approach

SIG first assessed the client’s business model, investment objectives, proposed Singapore activities and regional expansion strategy. We then identified relevant incentive and grant programmes and evaluated their eligibility requirements against the client’s proposed plans.

Working closely with the management team, we refined the business strategy, financial projections, hiring plans and supporting materials to better demonstrate the commercial rationale and Singapore value-add. We also guided the client through the application process, coordinated key information and helped management prepare for discussions with the relevant government agencies.

Results

✓Through the advisory process, the client gained a clearer understanding of Singapore’s incentive and grant landscape, as well as the factors considered by government agencies when assessing applications.

The proposed Singapore structure and business plan were refined to better align with the relevant programme requirements, while providing a clearer roadmap for investment, hiring and regional expansion.

The client was able to approach the application process with more comprehensive documentation, stronger commercial justification and a clearer understanding of its commitments. This provided a more structured foundation for pursuing government support and establishing sustainable operations in Singapore.
